Magnetic paint meters and testers are solutions based on the principle of magnetic force, which attracts a magnet (in this case neodymium) to steel. The thicker the layer of paint on the steel, the lower the attraction force.
It should be noted that these solutions are not as accurate as electronic paint thickness gauges, but their accuracy is sufficient for a fairly accurate assessment of the condition of the car body. The average user will gain experience in measuring after just a few attempts.
You can easily read:
- original varnish - green area
- the second layer of varnish - the yellow area
- putty or thick varnish - red area.
MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® is only to assist in the interpretation of the measurements, it cannot be the basis for an unambiguous answer to the question of whether the car has had the body and paint repairs. Nevertheless, many people who evaluate cars do not really know what a given paint thickness means, so the above function is to help with this.
